The country houses Le Muricce and the Podere Staggia are 6-8 km north of Siena, in the Chianti area. In this page you can find general directions and arrival information untill Siena, Tuscany, Italy (the detailed directions are included in each property in this website, under the link “map and location”).


By Car:





By the highway:

1) From Milano, Bologna: A1 Milano-Roma-Napoli, direction Florence– Exit: Firenze Impruneta (ex Certosa).
From Firenze Impruneta (ex Certosa), entry on the Superhighway Firenze-Siena, direction Siena.

2) From Naples, Rome: A1 Napoli-Roma-Milano, direction Florence– Exit: Valdichiana-Bettolle-Sinalunga. From the exit Bettolle, take the connection road SS73 / E78 Siena-Bettolle, direction to Siena.

By the secondary roads (with stunning views along the way):

1) from Florence, the historic road which links Florence to Siena, called the “Chiantigiana”, SR.222: exit on “Firenze Sud” (if you are in the A1 highway), follow the directions to “Ponte a Ema” and “Grassina”. From there, take the direction to Siena. The road is about 60 km, and crosses the Chiantishire!

2a) from Rome, the historic road “Cassia” SS2, through the southeastern province of Siena, with beautiful views over the Crete Senesi. From Rome, take the highway A1 direction Florence. Exit on “Orvieto” and take the direction to “San Lorenzo Nuovo” by the SR 71 and the SR 74. From San Lorenzo Nuovo take the direction to Siena by the way SS 2, called “Cassia”. From Orvieto to Siena is about 2 and ½  hours drive.

2b) an alternative can be: from Rome, take the highway A1 direction Florence. Exit on “Chiusi-Chianciano Terme” and from there take the SP 146, direction Chianciano Terme. From there you continue on the SP 146 toward Montepulciano (Bivio di San Biagio), Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia. Then you reach the SS 2, direction Siena. From Chiusi to Siena by this way it takes about 2 hours drive.

By Train:

1) From Rome you have to take the line Roma-Chiusi, change on Chiusi and then take Chiusi-Siena.
2) From Florence, the line is “Florence-Empoli-Siena”.

1) From Milan, Bologna, Rome, take the “Sena” bus line, timetables on: .
2) From Florence, Pisa (specially the Pisa Airport "G. Galilei"): take the “Train-Tiemme mobilità” bus line, the website is:
3) The local bus in Siena is served by the same bus service, “Train-Tiemme mobilità” ( To reach the property le Muricce, there are 2 bus lines, the number 35 from Siena Piazza Gramsci, and the number 125 from the Siena Train Station. You can easily reach the Muricce in 15 minutes on either line from Siena. The bus stop is 200 meters from the Muricce. The local bus tickets can be bought at the tobacco shops.

By Taxi:


- The taxi phone number for Siena is 0039-0577- 49222. You just have to say where you are and the call-center operator will confirm your reservation and will give you the number of the taxi and the waiting time. You can find also directly a taxi stop on the Siena Train Station, and in Piazza Matteotti (Siena).
